Welcome to the home page of the Embassy of the Netherlands in Riyadh. I am glad that you have found your way to this website and I hope that you will find the information here useful.

 
The information on the site reflects the broad relations between the Netherlands and Saudi Arabia, political, economic, of trade or investment, in energy, education or other.

The relations between the two countries date back quite some time. Already in 1871 a Dutch Consulate was opened in Jeddah, in what was then known as Western-Arabia. It’s main purpose and role was to support the tens of thousands of moslem-pilgrims from the Netherlands East-Indies who were performing their pilgrimage to Mekka and Medina.

 
Nowadays the relations are more comprehensive and I hope that the website will illustrate this. The Netherlands is one of the main European trade- and investment partners of Saudi Arabia. In energy and agriculture the links are robust, and our higher education relations are growing at an impressive rate.

 
By all means you will find extensive information on the consular services this Embassy provides. Of course there is the consular support to the many hundreds of Dutch who live and work in Saudi Arabia. But there are also the many thousands of Saudi or other nationals who apply for a visa as they intend to visit the Netherlands, for business, study or tourism.
